Wills and Probate Fees

The collection and distribution of money, property and other assets belonging to a person following their death, where these are within the UK and the matters are not contested;

(All VAT is at standard prevailing rate).

People dealing with the matter will be:

Chloé Welsh
Trainee Solicitor with over 5 years’ fee-earning experience. Charging rate is £185 +VAT per hour

John Walker
Solicitor Qualified 1981. With over 40 years’ fee-earning experience. Charging rate is £240 +VAT per hour.

Paul Francis Crowley
Solicitor Qualified 1982. With nearly 40 years’ fee-earning experience. Charging Rate is £240 +VAT per hour.

Typically, estates that are not subject to inheritance tax conclude within 10-15 hours.

Additional charges

1% of the gross value of the Estate not including the property where a charge of ½ % is levied.

Where a Partner of the Firm is appointed as Executor in a professional capacity the charge is 1.5% of the gross value of the Estate not including the property where a charge of ½ % is levied.

Disbursements (expenses incurred with formal administration charges)

Disbursements are likely to include:

  1. Grant of Probate Application Fee £156 (including 2 sealed copies) no VAT
  2. Office copy entries for probate registry £3 per copy no VAT
  3. Trustee Act Notices in the region of £190 – £210 including VAT
  4. Bankruptcy searches £2 per beneficiary no VAT
