An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR Advisor to join the Practice Management department of leading Liverpool law firm Paul Crowley & Co Solicitors.

Based at our head office in Anfield, you will be joining a highly professional practice management team. It is an essential requirement that the successful candidate is Full or Part CIPD qualified and has a minimum of 2 years HR knowledge and experience.

Overall purpose of the job

To support the Practice Manager in the development of an efficient day to day HR advisory and support service within Paul Crowley & Co Solicitors to support the smooth running of all ‘people related’ issues across the business as the Practice continues to grow.

Job context 

The role of the HR Advisor will be pivotal to the future success of the HR function.

A key goal for the function is to implement a new HR System and develop a set of supporting Processes and Procedures to enable it to respond more effectively to the business as it continues to grow.

Principal accountabilities

1  Recruitment and Selection

  • Administration and Co-ordination of an end to end Recruitment Process
  • Liaising with external agencies / networks to source candidates
  • Receive and administer candidates through Direct Advertising channels
  • Arrange for CVs to be short listed
  • Inviting candidates to interviews / assessment centres
  • Scheduling and co-ordinating of interviews / assessment centres
  • Arranging managers support, booking rooms and producing timetable and resources for recruitment events

2  New Starters

  • Inputting new starter details onto system
  • Making up new starter manual personnel file
  • Completing new starter payroll from and sending all necessary documentation to Finance
  • Providing various depts with new starter details including: IT / Finance / Training
  • Chasing any outstanding documentation
  • Chasing references

3  Induction Process

  • Deliver Standard Core Induction training on HR Matters to all new staff
  • Co-ordination and Administration of all elements of Core Induction

4  Training and Development

  • Play a key role  in the design and / or delivery of training workshops for Managers and Team Leaders on a variety of HR issues
  • Administration and Co-ordination of Training Administration Process

5  Annual Reviews / Appraisals

  • Ensure that all performance reviews are conducted and administered in a consistent and timely fashion

6  Performance Management

  • Conduct and / or play a supportive role (eg: note taking) in a range of 1 to 1 HR Meetings including disciplinary / performance management meetings as required
  • Provide timely HR advice and support to Managers on a range of HR related issues

7  Administrative Management of Company HR Policies and Procedures including:

  • Leavers Process
  • Holiday Bookings
  • Company Sickness Absence
  • Administration of the HR aspects of Payroll

8  HR Data and MI Reporting and QC

  • Responsible for ensuring that computerised /manual HR  records and personnel files are kept up to date
  • Responsible for the setting up and production of regular HR
  • Reports

9  Compliance

  • Support the Practice Manager in ensuring that the HR Function is operating in a compliant manner in line with both CIPD and SRA Guidelines

10  Miscellaneous

  • To support the Practice Manager in general with a range of ad hoc, projects and activities

Job knowledge, skills and experience

Essential

  • Solid experience of setting up and administering within a HR function
  • Minimum 2 years HR knowledge and experience
  • Full / Part CIPD qualified
  • Used to using a HR system for the administration, management and reporting on HR themes
  • Experience in providing first level HR support to Managers
  • Has some experience of conducting recruitment interviews, disciplinaries, exit interviews etc.
  • Ability to design and / or deliver Induction Training
  • Good on a range of computer packages including word and excel, HR specialist packages
  • Abreast of current HR Employment Legislation

Desirable

  • Previous experience of implementing a HR System would be an advantage
  • Previous experience of working in the Legal Sector would be beneficial
