Colette Crowley, Head of Clinical Negligence at leading Liverpool law firm Paul Crowley & Co has successfully settled a £17,500 compensation claim for her client.
Colette’s client (Mrs E) injured herself after falling over. She attended the A and E department of her local hospital. Mrs E was complaining of pains in her stomach and was seen by a doctor who sent Mrs E for a chest x-ray, there was no examination of her of abdomen and no further scans were carried out and so the hospital released Mrs E without further investigation.
Readmitted to hospital to undergo emergency operation
Mrs E was readmitted to hospital a few weeks later after collapsing at home. She had suffered a painful ruptured spleen which was sustained in the original accident but had gone undetected and which resulted in her having to undergo an emergency splenectomy and laparotomy.
Colette says ‘This was a complex case which was sensitively dealt with on behalf of the client’
