Embracing Equity Affecting Change
The aim of the International Women’s Day 2023 #EmbraceEquity campaign theme is to get the world talking about why equal opportunities aren’t enough, by embracing equity, we embrace diversity and inclusion and by being included we feel a sense of belonging, of feeling right.
At Paul Crowley & Co solicitors, we believe each and everyone of us, has within our own sphere of influence, the ability to challenge discrimination and gender stereotypes both within and outside of work and by supporting the campaign we can all play our part in affecting change.
International Women’s Day has occurred for well over a century, the first IWD held in 1911 in Germany, Austria, Denmark and other European countries was supported by over a million people.
Today, IWD belongs to all groups of people collectively everywhere and this year will be a celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world.
As people we all start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging requires equitable action. Paul Crowley & Co Solicitors fully support IWD and are committed to providing equality, fairness and respect for all in our employment.
Women In Law Pledge
As one of this years’ company objectives Paul Crowley & Co are committed to signing up to the Law Society’s ‘Women in Law Pledge’. The Pledge is a commitment by signatories across the legal profession to work together to harness the power of gender equality and transform the business of law.
As part of the application process, Paul Crowley & Co will be working towards setting specific gender targets, developing an action plan to achieve those targets, committing at senior level to tackle sex discrimination in the workplace and once signed up, making public our pledge and publishing our targets and action plan.
Paul Crowley & Co encourage individuals from across the legal profession to raise awareness of the Pledge and encourage their organisations to sign it.
‘I am delighted with the opportunities I have been given within the firm and feel so fortunate to be part of such an inclusive workforce. It’s imperative that we all embrace equity, and it excites me to see a shift within the legal profession. Together we will continue to tackle gender issues headfirst, leading the way in creating diversity, inclusion, and equality.’
