Sir Terry Pratchett’s unfinished books have been destroyed by a steamroller, following the late novelist’s wishes.

According to The Guardian, Pratchett’s friend Neil Gaiman said the author wanted “whatever he was working on at the time of his death to be taken out along with his computers, to be put in the middle of a road and for a steamroller to steamroll over them all”..

Pratchett died in March 2015, having been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2007.

Rob Wilkins, who manages the Pratchett estate, fulfilled his obligation to Pratchett and crushed the hard drive containing his works with a vintage steamroller.

If a loved one loses mental capacity they may no longer be able to make vital decisions affecting their finances and medical treatment. This makes it very difficult for them to manage their affairs and relatives cannot act on their behalf without the proper legal authority.

Natasha Booth, Head of private client at Paul Crowley & Co, explains why setting up a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is so important when it comes to our advanced care planning: Read the blog.
